Technical audit on an investment in secondary steelmaking processing.

 

Ladle operations and performance

Trouble shooting, technical improvements and introduction of standard operating procedures for ladle handling in steelmaking operations. This includes strategies for handling of empty ladles, relining philosophy, pre-heating programs, operator work-schedules and actions, and identification of local bottle necks.

 

Aluminium dross waste management

Technical evaluation and development of waste management (aluminium dross). Development of waste processing method.

Complete training package for operators and engineers introducing lean production and steel plant wide production philosophy. Approximately 200 attendees over a period of 6 weeks.

Steelmaking process control system EAF – LF – VD

Post installation support. Tuning and improvement of model and system performance. Processing review.

 

LF-VD ramp-up activities

Ramp-up of secondary steelmaking plant operations and processing. Modification and tuning of processing strategy and identification of equipment weak-spots. Tuning of process control system settings and refinement of standard operation practices.

 

Aluminium re-melting process R&D project

Technical project management in an R&D project aiming at a more efficient re-melting of aluminium scrap, including handling of by-products.

 

  

2008

 

Steelmaking lean production and quality focus

Implementation of lean production and quality oriented production strategy. From push to pull strategy. Development and implementation support when development procedures for new strategy on all steelmaking stations: iron de-S – iron handling – BOF – secondary steelmaking operations – casting – slab handling. Service handling such as overhead cranes and ladle maintenance was also included.

 

Commissioning of LF-VD secondary steelmaking plant

Metallurgical and operations responsibility for a secondary steelmaking LF-VD plant during cold and hot commissioning. The assignment included post-commissioning ramp-up.

 

Technical marketing of water granulation plant

Production of technical marketing material for a process for water granulation of metals. Production of presentations and white papers.

 

Steelmaking process control system EAF – LF – VD

Development and commissioning of metallurgical models into a process control system for EAF – LF – VD process route. Models included all physical and chemical events including non-metallic inclusions. The process control system covered all aspects of the processing including tapping and transportation between stations.

 

Metal granulation feasibility study

Plant dimensioning and logistics study including investment and running cost evaluation. Production of feasibility report and presentation.

 

 

2007

 

Metallurgical production unit purchasing assistance

Metallurgical responsibility for purchasing of secondary steelmaking unit. Active contribution in tender requirement specification, supplier technical performance evaluation and final negotiations. 

 

Metal granulation technical design

Design and outline of several metal granulation plants for Ferro-alloys and iron production.

 

Steelmaking generalized model

Development of a generalized model applicable for most steelmaking operations to be used in numerous steelmaking operations Level 2 control systems.

  

 

Special traing programme for metals processing

Technical training of operators on plant equipment. The training was taylordesigned for each selected process operations. The objective was to develop all productions personnel awareness of equipment functionality, maintenance needs, and critical handling issues.
