Lean Production and Operations

Metsol have contributed in larger lean production projects where major routines and behaviour changes have been implemented on the steelmaking shop floor.

Metsol have acted as the main link between operators and management. Close cooperation with production key personnel ensures a sound production concept, thus avoiding flaws usually experienced when concepts are designed off-site.

Metsol have contributed in several of the activities to obtain a lean production:

• Organizational issues – defining staff roles and information flow.
• Processing/Operations – defining process flow interfaces and requirements.
• Operator workflows – defining operator work steps and reporting requirement.
• Bottleneck identification – finding local bottlenecks and resolving them.
• Key indicators – defining key indicators and implementing them.
• General and specialised training – training and education of all staff for implementation of production concept.
• Troubleshooting – special focus on technical problem areas to avoid technical restrictions in implementation of production concept.
